Bucegi mountains are located in the central part of Romania, south of Brasov city. They are also part of the Bucegi Natural Park, which is shared by three counties: Brasov, Prahova and Dambovita.

Bucegi is one of the most popular mountains, due to the easy access by car and cable car. Most tourists flock here for the Sphinx and the Babele, bizarre rock formations which were carved by the forces of nature. Also, the area is preferred buy hikers who can approach the mountains from the East, hiking from Prahova valley, from the North, following the trails from Brasov – Rasnov and from the West, beginning from Rucar – Bran corridor.

Typical for this mountain are the impressive vertical walls, the most impressive being Abruptul Prahovean, arising above Prahova Valley more than 1500 meters (4921 ft)

The highest altitude of Bucegi mountains is Omu peak, at 2505 m (7342 ft).

The flora and fauna present here is very rich, several rare species of wild flowers can be spotted, as well as lynx and brown bears.
